why the violin?

The study of the violin strengthens our ability to focus, persevere, critically think and express ourselves. It also is proven to have a positive impact on the development of complex physical and mental processes important for our understanding of math, reading, and writing.

Learning the violin should be fun! Heather offers an exciting and whole-body approach to learning the violin and music. She helps students see their full potential. Playing the violin is challenging but rewarding!

Heather is AMAZING! This is my child’s first year with an instrument and with taking lessons. My kiddo looks forward to lessons each week and usually doesn’t need a reminder to practice, because they love playing so much! Heather has a fantastic rapport with my child and I heartily recommend her to anyone looking for a teacher. She is kind, funny, fun, and incredibly encouraging. Heather is a clear communicator and is very adept at guiding my child and supporting their learning. 5 out of 5 stars!

In terms of violin knowledge, pace, professionalism, etc., Heather is a “low-pressure, high fun” teacher and we appreciate the non-Suzuki approach. That said, it is Heather’s natural ability to connect genuinely with children where she really shines. Heather is one of those people who - with effortless patience - connects with and engages children of all personality types and - with reference to our space cadet - levels of focus.
